This is Helmet is iconic Morion, popularly identified with early Spanish explorers and conquistadors such as Hernando de Soto and Coronado. It was in use as early as the conquest of Mexico by Hernan Cortez or Francisco Pizarro's conquest of the Incas in South America. They generally consist of having a flat brim with a crest in the front and back. The Morion's shape is derived from that of an older helmet, the Kettle Hat and known in England as the Pikeman's Pot.
The Spanish Comb Morion 18g DeSoto Helmet is constructed of polish 18 gauge steel that has been handmade with great care and includes a soft leather suspension liner and chin strap. Just adjust the liner so that the helmet fits comfortable atop your head and secure it with the chin strap and adjustable steel buckle. This helmet is great for perfecting a costume in re-enactments or stage.
