A properly dressed man needs the right shirt as the base for all everything else he wears. This time period is no different and may be a bit more specific!
The 1810-40 shirt is similar in cut to the earier 1780-1820 (Federalist Era shirt) but features a slightly improved fit around the neck and shoulders. Also a nice lightweight grade 100% grade 100% cotton is used in these shirts.
The drop shoulder pattern has a split front with gathered sleeves and cuffs. For fancy occasions the High Collar can be worn “up” or folded over. There are two collar styles available: an overlap style (shown the picture here) and the setback style (also shown in this picture). A ruffle can be added along the front slit if desired at nominal charge. Two mother of pearl buttons close the collar, three on the front slit and one on each cuff. Buttons are already sewn on.
